All IRC parents and caregivers are invited to our first IRC Family Council meeting of the year, held virtually on Monday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. This is where we kick off the year, share what Council is all about, and elect our Executive and Voting Members for 2025/26.
If you would like to be an Executive or Voting Member, please remember to fill out the linked nomination form by Sept. 21st!
Not ready for a formal role? That is completely okay. You can still join the conversation, volunteer at an event, lend a special talent, or help out behind the scenes when your schedule allows. Big help, small help, one-time help — it all makes IRC brighter.
Have questions or want to learn more? Reach out anytime at ircfamilycouncil@gmail.com. We are looking forward to a great 2025/26 school year together!
Danielle (Co-Chair 25/26), Tara (Co-Chair 25/26), Courtney (Treasurer 24/25), Charlotte Cox (Secretary, 25/26), Katelyn Veldman (Communications Chair, 25/26)
IRC Family Council is a friendly way to stay connected, share ideas, and help make school life more joyful and meaningful for every student. We meet virtually once a month to talk about all things IRC, plan community events, support fundraising initiatives, and work with school administration to raise parent and caregiver questions, ideas, and concerns. Everyone is welcome to attend, and meeting links are shared in the principal’s weekly update.
Executive Roles: Each year, Council elects a Chair or Co-Chairs, Treasurer, and Secretary at the first meeting. These roles help guide Council’s work, keep things organized, and move great ideas forward. This year, we are especially looking for enthusiastic parents and caregivers who may be interested in stepping into the Chair or Co-Chair role.
Voting Members: Voting Members are appointed at the first meeting and attend monthly virtual meetings to vote on Council decisions, including spending, events, and school-support initiatives. Voting Members are also encouraged to take a lead or co-lead role in one event, committee, or project during the year.
Non-Voting Members: Want to listen in, share ideas, or be part of the conversation without a formal voting role? Perfect. All parents and caregivers are welcome to attend and participate in Council meetings, whether or not they are elected as Voting Members.
Events, Committees, and Special Talents: Not sure Council meetings are your thing? You can still make a big difference. Help lead or support events like Pizza Days, Movie Night, Dance-a-thon, Parent Socials, Fun Fair, or projects like the website, garden, and playground. Got a hidden superpower — graphic design, baking, spreadsheets, organizing, photography, communications, or just great ideas? We would love your help. You do not need to be a Voting Member, or even a formal Council member, to volunteer for an event or join a committee.
Maybe you are a graphic design whiz, a brilliant baker, a spreadsheet hero, a super-organized event planner, or someone with great ideas and a little time to share. We would love your help! You can join Parent Council, volunteer at events, or lend your talents to a committee — no need to become a voting member to make a real difference.
A few ways to jump in:
Help run an ongoing favourite like Pizza Day or Movie Night.
Pitch in at a one-time event, like helping at a bake sale table on Curriculum Night.
Donate baked goods, supplies, ideas, or a few helping hands when they are needed.
Join the energy at Fun Fair or lend your skills to a committee or special project.
